Pro wrestling is a live show with real athletes and planned outcomes. Every story has heroes (faces) and villains (heels). Weekly shows build rivalries (feuds) that pay off at big events.
A match ends with a pinfall (the three count), a submission, a count-out or a disqualification. The fun is guessing how the story goes: who wins, who cheats, who runs in, who turns.
Call the Finish asks you to call what happens next. You don't need to know everyone. You need to know the moments, and the ones below are what calls are about.
Face
A hero. The crowd cheers them.
Heel
A villain. The crowd boos them. Heels cheat.
Turn
When a face becomes a heel (heel turn) or the other way around.
Promo
A wrestler talking to the crowd or the camera to build a story.
Feud
A rivalry between wrestlers, built over weeks toward a big match.
Pinfall (the three count)
Both shoulders on the mat while the referee counts 1, 2, 3. The most common way to win.
Kickout / near fall
Getting a shoulder up before 3. A pin attempt that almost wins is a near fall.
Submission
A hold so painful the opponent taps out (or the ref stops it).
Count-out
Staying outside the ring past the referee's count of 10.
DQ (disqualification)
Breaking the rules in front of the ref: weapons, low blows, outside help. Titles don't change hands on a DQ.
No contest
The match is thrown out and nobody wins, usually because of a brawl.
Finisher
A wrestler's signature move that usually ends matches.
Run-in
Someone not in the match runs in to attack or help.
Ref bump
The referee gets knocked down. Chaos usually follows.
Retain
When the champion keeps the title.
Pop
A huge crowd cheer, usually for a surprise or a big moment.
Heat
Boos for a villain. Getting heat means they're doing their job.
Premium live event
A big event (like the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania), where the biggest matches happen.
Battle royal
Lots of wrestlers in the ring. You're out when you go over the top rope and both feet touch the floor. Last one left wins.
Faction / stable
A group of wrestlers who work together.
Tag team
Two partners. Only one is legal in the ring at a time; they switch with a tag.
Cash-in
Using a guaranteed title shot (like the Money in the Bank briefcase) at any moment.
Booking
The planned story and results. Fans love to argue about it, and that's what you're calling.
